Two of my closest friends from college came to visit my little place this weekend, and it was so much fun to show them around my new world. Of course we hit up some Chicago classics.
To work up an appetite, we walked over to Oak Street Beach for a quick visit. The waves were insane today, and the amount of adorable puppies playing in the sand was not okay for my poor heart.
After we had enough of the wind and sand, we ventured off for food. Shake Shack, here we come! Neither Nicole or Andrea had been there, and it has been about a year since my last visit, so we were all decently excited. I need to try a shake and some custard next time... If you have recommendations, let me know!
My friends and I had been wanting to check out the sugar-filled drinks at Dylan's Candy Bar for awhile, so we went there next. The drinks were adorable as heck, but quite pricey ($12 for a candy queen martini, beware!). Nonetheless, we enjoyed the visit. You can't go wrong inside a candy store!
And as if the candy store wasn't enough, we wandered off to Sprinkles for some cupcakes afterward. I have no self control in that place! Now that I live so close, I decided I should try a new flavor each time I go. Today I went with banana, and it did not disappoint.
Although all of these places were fun (and delicious), the best part is having an apartment to come home to after all is said and done. If you've been to Sprinkles, you know the seating inside is very limited. I've been there enough times to know it's a struggle to find a spot to eat those cupcakes. However, today we were able to walk right back to my apartment and enjoy.
It's the little things that make living downtown so worth it!
